Happy Memorial Day!

Dallas World Aquarium

Yesterday, we ventured over to the Dallas World Aquarium (our favorite place to go when it's over 95 degrees outside - because it's all indoors!). The kids had a great time and got to see tons of fun, wild animals!

Mia (thinking about smiling), Aden and Ethan

Aden and Mia both got to feed this awesome little toucan looking birds

We stopped for slushies and right above us was a sleeping sloth

This guy stole the show. Aden had to keep going back and watching him. It's a giant anteater, and he was pretty active. The kids were amazed - they had never imagined any creature like this.

Aden found a starfish!

Aden was happy to find an octopus, but the guy stayed inside the little cave the whole time, which was a bummer.

At the gift shop, Aden discovered HexBugs. I may have to look into this for his birthday.

My best attempt at getting a picture of Aden and a manatee.

Ethan really loved this place. It was his first visit and he giggled and ooohed the whole way. Especially when he got out of his stroller and was able to lean up close. I could tell he liked it, because he did his little happy dance.

Welcome to the World Charlotte!

Meggie and John welcomed Charlotte Kathryn Burris and isn't she GORGEOUS!?!
We can't wait to meet you in person Charlotte!

What have we been doing this past week or so?

Trip to Oklahoma

We took a quick trip to Oklahoma last weekend to visit Grandma Kathryn. The boys got to have a little road trip (6 hours each way!) and we got some practice for next months San Antonio trip.

This was Ethan's first time to meet Kathryn, and Aden hadn't seen her in a couple of years so it was nice to get the boys together with her.

Our hotel had an indoor pool, so it was also Ethan's first time in a pool. He was indifferent, but Aden had a blast.

It was also Ethan's first stay in a hotel. He really liked that. I was a wreck though. None of the outlets were covered and Ethan kept making a beeline to each one of them. He also isn't used to sleeping with people in the room, so instead of going right to sleep like he normally does, he stood up and squawked at us. We had to stand in the corner of the room where he couldn't see us until he finally laid down and went to sleep.

Once he was finally asleep, every little movement or sound woke him back up. Both boys were up with the sun the next morning. Thankfully, they had a 6 hour road trip to sleep it off. Adam and I weren't so lucky.

Fredericksburg Girls Trip!

I'm back this week from a weekend girls trip to Fredericksburg, TX. I had a blast! These are my girls from Houston, so I never get to see them. They had put together the girls weekend trip in honor of Kristies' (above with me) birthday. She didn't know I was meeting them, so it was a surprise when I walked through the door to eat lunch with them.

(Me, Kristie, Tina, Jessie, Lauren, Leslie)

Fredericksburg is a very pretty little town with lots of historical markers, vineyards and orchards. Plenty of shopping, bed and breakfasts and WINE!

We also really enjoyed the food. There's a strong German influence in the town, so bratwurst and Biergartens were a plenty.

We ate, drank, shopped, did makeovers, visited a vineyard and just enjoyed girl time in general.

The vineyard we visited was Becker Vineyards, which is also known for its lavender fields. They happened to be having a mini festival and wine tasting party there when we arrived, so we tasted lavender chocolate, lavender lemonade and Texas homemade pasta. Oh yeah... and wine!

Thanks girls for being so wonderful!
