Come on, get HAPPY!

We are smack dab in the middle of the two weeks a year that it actually feels wonderful here in Texas. Soon, it will be too hot to breathe but for now it feels too good to NOT be outdoors. So we've been living it up!

We even got a little treat with Mia and Ava coming over for dinner a few days ago. The kids played toys and read books in the tent and had a great bonding evening.

In keeping with tradition, the boys and I had green ice cream for St Patricks Day - and we shared with daddy too!

Aden found some wildflower seeds and asked to plant them. So we did!

Ethan was really good at "patting the dirt," which he did not want to stop doing. He got quite upset when we asked him to stop.

Getting over it...

All good now...

Both boys are turning into cuddlers too. Both Adam and I really enjoy the part of the day when we get to snuggle these guys.

Why??

I'm not sure what age "Why" questions start to filter into regular conversation, but for Ethan it's 21 months. It is really hilarious to hear him ask - in context! - why we are answering the way we are.

Ethan: Outside?
Me: No baby, not right now.
Ethan: Why?
Me: Because it's dark.
Ethan: No (as in, no it's not)
Me: Yes it is
Ethan: No! (as in, no really, I have all the answers and it's not too dark)

Ethan: Hungry mommy
Me: Can you wait just a minute?
("Just a minute" he understands)
Ethan: Why?
Me: Because I'm making lunch and it's not ready yet
Ethan: Hungry!
(waiting for food he does NOT understand)
Me: In just a minute Ethan
Ethan: Why?

I admit, it's precious right now. He is so inquisitive and ready to learn. I'm amazed every day at how much more he's speaking in full sentences and really understanding. They go from infants to big boys virtually overnight. Sometimes I expect him to come around the corner and ask for the car keys.

Oh wait, he does that already.

Here are some photos from a recent picnic. The weather has been really, really nice lately. I know it won't last, it's already getting hot. So we're enjoying outdoor time as much as we can right now.

Happy Birthday Lola!

For Lola's birthday this year, we went to the Trinity Park and had a picnic, played on the playground, and then took a ride on the train. This last part, in particular, was Ethan's favorite part. Pure bliss! He kept saying, "Choo choo!!" and just let the wind flow through his hair as he enjoyed the ride. Afterwards, we went across the street to walk through one of the gardens at the Botanical Gardens. It was such a nice day, and the boys had a whole lot of fun. And I think Lola did too.

Oh, just a peek!

We FINALLY got our family pictures done (for the first time since these). (And remember this one?) We used the same photographer, Chera, and she did a fantastic job! Here's a peek - the rest are being mailed to me and I should have them soon.
