Been awhile! Let's see where we left off...
Halloween night, the plan was to take the boys to the big Trunk or Treat at Gigi's church, and then maybe trick-or-treat for an hour or so, just to say we did it. About 15 minutes before we were going to leave, Ethan grabbed the back of Aden's costume, and Aden spun around, sending Ethan flying into the brick column in our house. Ouch! It immediately bubbled up into a large goose egg on his head. I grabbed Ethan to get ice on it, Adam gave him Tylenol and as I rocked him, I announced that Halloween has been CANCELLED. I just didn't feel right taking Ethan out like that and Adam didn't want to go without us.
But after about 15 minutes of rocking, Ethan was back up and running around ready to go. So we decided to skip the trunk-or-treat and just visit Lola and Papa's neighborhood for a little while. We joked that Ethan thought his bumble bee costume wasn't scary enough so he made himself "Frankenstein Bee." Luckily, the bump went down quickly and just left a little bruise (that lasted over a week!)
The boys handed out some candy with Lola, then we loaded them up in the wagon and did some trick-or-treating of our own. We thought Ethan would hit a couple houses and then be content with riding in the wagon. Ethan didn't like going to the door on his own, but was happy to go with daddy holding him.
As soon as a few stops were made though, we left Ethan in the wagon but he didn't like that at all. He had already figured out that going to the door meant getting candy and that was pretty much the best deal he's ever heard of. So as soon as the wagon stopped (every. single. time), Ethan would stand up in the wagon, grab his bucket and hold his arms up and say, "Daddy..."
It was the cutest thing. So Ethan is a big fan of Halloween.
Aden is too. He had a BLAST trick-or-treating and is already planning out what he wants to do and what he wants to wear next year.
Last trick-or-treat stop: Lola!
And as an adult I have now discovered another reason to love Halloween... worn out kiddos who sleep peacefully all night.
